Hello! Welcome to The Rest is Yoga - my name is Rhiannon and I teach mixed-ability yoga classes in Clifton, Bedfordshire for all levels
What is yoga?
Yoga is as diverse as its practitioners, each of whom brings their own unique approach to the practice
It is an ancient discipline of physical, mental and philosophical practices which originated in South Asia—the word yoga is a Sanskrit word (classical language) that translates as ‘unite’—with the aim of unifying the mind and body with our inner and outer worlds.
On a physical level, yoga practice encompasses asana (body postures), pranayama (breath control) and dhyana (meditation) each offering many benefits. Asana strengthens muscles, improves stamina, increases flexibility and helps to release tension. Pranayama, breathing practices and meditation can be effective in reducing stress or anxiety and promote a sense of balance and calm. Yoga nidra, an accessible horizontal meditation which hovers on the edge of sleep and wakefulness, is deeply healing and restorative.
Yoga also invites us to explore how we relate to ourselves and those around us through the yamas (restraints) and niyamas (observances). These principles serve as an ethical foundation for living, such as the first yama, ahimsa (non-violence), which encourages compassion and the avoidance of harm in our thoughts, words, and actions.
People come to yoga for many different reasons, and there’s no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to approach it. Some are drawn to the physical practice, others to pranayama or meditation, and many enjoy a combination of these elements. The best way to understand what yoga can offer is to give it a try and let your practice unfold naturally—welcome home to yourself.
What to expect at a yoga class with Rhiannon
Classes are mixed ability and suitable for all levels including beginners
When you join a class, you can look forward to:
A moment to settle
Begin with a few minutes of centring to shift your focus inward and prepare for the practice.
Gentle movements to warm up the body
Simple stretches and flows to connect breath with movement and ease tension to prepare your body for the session ahead.
Asana (postures)
Explore yoga poses with options and props to support injuries, conditions, or different needs, ensuring a safe and accessible practice for all.
Pranayama (breath control)
Practice breathing techniques to calm your mind, deepen your breath, and enhance focus.
Relaxation techniques
Enjoy guided moments of rest to release tension and reset both body and mind.
Yoga nidra
End with yoga nidra, a deeply relaxing horizontal meditation usually practiced lying down, designed to leave you feeling restored and at peace.
I strive to create a supportive environment where you can practice yoga in a way that suits you. Classes are taught with a focus on modifying up, offering variations and encouraging you to listen to your body so that you can choose what works.
If you have any questions or need more information about the classes, please feel free to reach out—I’d be happy to chat and help you decide if it’s the right fit for you.
About me
I’m Rhiannon (she/her), and I’ve been practicing yoga for 15 years, starting with my first class during my school years. In 2021, I began my journey to become a yoga teacher.
Yoga, for me, is the gift that keeps on giving—it is a lifelong practice that continues to evolve both on and off the mat. It has been essential in supporting me through daily life and significant changes. I love teaching yoga nidra, asana, pranayama, and facilitating restorative classes that encourage you to slow down, turn inward, and listen closely. When you pause... the rest is yoga.
Creativity is at the heart of everything I do, whether it’s yoga, art, gardening, cooking, walking, or listening to audiobooks. I’m inspired by the world around me and enjoy weaving these influences into classes.
